Chery Stockman ute now due in New Zealand in early 2027
Chery expects its diesel plug-in hybrid ute in New Zealand in Q1 2027; local price and final specifications remain unconfirmed.

Chery’s Stockman ute is now expected to reach New Zealand in the first quarter of 2027, while local pricing remains unconfirmed. The timing and pricing update comes as the company has released a more detailed indicative specification for the Australian-market version.
The Stockman combines a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine with a plug-in hybrid system. Chery’s Australian specification lists combined outputs of 350kW and 800Nm, a 34kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery and a claimed 96km electric range on the WLTC test cycle. Those figures relate to the MY27 Australian Ultimate AWD and are not final New Zealand specifications.
The Australian sheet also lists 70kW DC fast charging, a 6.6kW AC charger and braked towing capacity of 3,495kg. Chery NZ previously promoted a 100km electric range using the NEDC test cycle; the difference reflects test cycles, and the newer WLTC result is the more useful comparison.
The ute is expected to pair its plug-in system with selectable four-wheel-drive modes and front, centre and rear differential locks. Chery says the Stockman is designed to combine diesel capability with electric driving for shorter trips, though real-world range will vary with load, terrain, temperature and driving style.
Chery NZ lists the Stockman as coming soon and has not announced local pricing or a final grade and equipment list. The company has indicated a first-quarter 2027 arrival window. Australian delivery timing has moved to February 2027, but that does not confirm a New Zealand showroom date.
For Kiwi ute buyers, the central question will be how the plug-in hardware affects payload and price. The Australian specification quotes a 765kg payload, but New Zealand figures and certification remain to be confirmed. We will update this story when Chery NZ confirms the local range, pricing and arrival date.
