Subaru New Zealand is considering adding the all-electric Uncharted SUV to its local range, with an example set to go on display at the NZ EV and Tech Expo.

The vehicle will be shown at the Auckland Showgrounds from 13 to 15 November 2026, giving visitors a chance to see the SUV while Subaru evaluates it for this market.

A New Zealand launch has not been confirmed. Subaru says local pricing, timing, specifications and availability remain undecided.

What is the Subaru Uncharted?

The Uncharted is a battery-electric SUV that joins Subaru’s expanding global EV line-up. The overseas model detailed by Subaru New Zealand uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system and sits on the e-Subaru Global Platform.

Those motors produce a combined 252kW in the overseas specification. Subaru also quotes approximately five seconds for the 0 to 100km/h sprint, measured under controlled conditions, and 211mm of ground clearance at kerb weight.

These are useful indicators of what the vehicle can offer, but they are not confirmed specifications for a New Zealand production model. Equipment and performance could change if Subaru decides to sell it here.

Battery, range and charging

Subaru lists a 74.7kWh battery for the overseas vehicle, with a targeted range of up to 522km on the WLTP cycle. The figure is preliminary and still subject to final testing and certification for Australia and New Zealand.

The company also estimates a DC fast charge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 30 minutes. Actual charging times will depend on factors including the charger, battery temperature and starting charge level. Driving range will vary with conditions and how the vehicle is used.

Vehicle-to-load capability is listed in the overseas specification, with a 220V, 1,500W outlet intended to supply external devices and equipment. Whether that feature, or the same output, would be included in any local model is yet to be confirmed.

Where can you see it?

The NZ EV and Tech Expo display is the next opportunity for Kiwi motorists to look at the Uncharted in person. The event runs from 13 to 15 November at Auckland Showgrounds.

Subaru is also taking registrations of interest through its Uncharted information page. Registering interest does not mean the vehicle has been confirmed for sale here.

For now, the biggest questions are whether Subaru will launch the model locally and, if it does, what price, equipment and final range it will offer. The overseas figures give an early picture, but buyers will need to wait for Subaru’s New Zealand announcement before making comparisons on a like-for-like basis.
