New Mitsubishi Pajero returns to New Zealand from $79,990
The seven-seat flagship SUV arrives in December with two grades, a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel, 3.5-tonne braked towing capacity and prices from $79,990 plus on-road costs.

Mitsubishi is bringing the Pajero name back to New Zealand as a seven-seat flagship SUV, with the new VRX priced at $79,990 plus on-road costs and the Exceed at $86,990 plus ORC. Both are due in Mitsubishi dealerships nationwide in December 2026.
The new model is powered by a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel producing 150kW and 480Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Mitsubishi says every Pajero can tow up to 3,500kg and uses a ladder-frame chassis, Super All-Wheel Control and Super Select 4WD-II, including low range
That specification points to a different brief from the polished urban SUVs that dominate many family driveways: the Pajero is being positioned for people who want three rows, serious towing ability and the option to head beyond sealed roads. It seats seven, measures 4,920mm long, and offers selectable drive modes for surfaces including gravel, snow, mud, sand and rock.
The VRX includes a pair of 12.3-inch displays, heated first- and second-row seats, three-zone climate control and a digital rear-view mirror. The Exceed adds larger screens, ventilated front seats and a 12-speaker Yamaha audio system.
Mitsubishi says local dealers have already taken strong pre-orders, though that is the company’s description of demand. The key comparison for buyers will be how the Pajero’s price and equipment stack up against other large SUVs and utes with similar towing needs.
The new Pajero is scheduled to arrive in dealerships nationwide in December.
