GWM has confirmed New Zealand pricing for the Haval H7, adding three electrified versions to the mid-size SUV mix. The range starts at $49,990 plus on-road costs for the Lux 2WD Hybrid. The Vanta Hybrid AWD costs $55,990, while the Vanta PHEV AWD tops the range at $61,990, both plus ORC.

The five-seat H7 takes a more upright, boxy approach than many family SUVs. GWM says the hybrid system produces up to 182kW of combined power. The plug-in hybrid lifts that to a claimed 320kW and 670Nm, with a 0–100km/h time of 4.9 seconds. GWM quotes up to 137km of electric driving for the PHEV and up to 844km combined range under the WLTC test cycle.

The AWD grades use GWM’s Hi4 system. The company also lists up to eight drive modes and a locking rear differential, while the PHEV includes vehicle-to-load power for compatible equipment. Those features position the H7 as a more adventure-styled alternative in a crowded SUV class, although the release does not provide an independent test or a direct comparison with rivals.

GWM says the H7 is intended to sit alongside the H6 in its New Zealand mid-size SUV range.
